I love to travel.
There is so much to see in the world and sometimes the TV or a magazine just doesn’t do it. There is something about walking up to a famous statue or an incredibly beautiful place and seeing it with your own eyes that just can’t be experienced the same in any other way.
Maybe it’s the journey to get you there. Maybe it’s the anticipation of knowing that you’re going to experience it first-hand. Maybe it’s the effort that you have to put out to make it a reality.

The Steps of the Notre Dame Cathedral
One example from my own travel experience that I’ll never forget is walking up the steps of the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, France. The history is amazing. The cathedral is beautiful. But you know what I remember most about it. It was the depressions worn into the stone stair steps and they way they felt under my feet. It was thinking about the number of people that had to make that same trip up those stairs over hundreds of years in order to wear down that stone. That was amazing and it’s something you’d never feel in a photograph or on a television travel show.
That’s what I love about traveling and the freedom that I feel when I’m going to new places and experiencing new things.
Travel is a metaphor for the rest of your life too. Every day you get the chance to make a choice about your direction and your destination.
