Interestingly, with the advances in technology, our brains have a hard time keeping up with all of the new information.  But we’ve been wired throughout history to pay attention to stories which allow us to learn and connect with others and the world around us.

There’s an old Native American saying, “Those who tell stories rule the world.”, which couldn’t be any more true today in the 21st century business world than ever!

But did you know that stories have such an impact on people that they actually change the chemistry in your brain?

I was doing some research while planning for an upcoming webinar and found this really interesting video that shows how storytelling and brain science merge together.

I sat there in awe as I was watching it, and even though I knew what they were doing with the story, I couldn’t help but notice that I was falling into the exact pattern that they go on to describe.

IMPORTANT: Watch this video, but pay attention to how you FEEL during the story about Ben in the beginning.

Pretty amazing stuff, right?

Now I know why I get those butterfly feelings in my stomach and tears in my eyes when I am drawn into a good story.  My brain is literally producing chemicals that make me focus on the story and gain empathy for the characters.

More importantly, I am drawn in to support the characters in the story.  I really care what happens to them.  I want the best for them.

Isn’t that the exact same response that we all want from our prospects and clients?

How about eliciting that type of response from our referral partners?

Would your business be better if you could tell stories to illustrate the struggles that you help your clients overcome?

Well, I’m a believer in the old adage, “Facts tell, stories sell..”  and this science reinforces that statement right down to the way the human brain is wired to respond.

The cool thing is that there are simple story formulas that have been proven to work over history and you can put them to work in your business right away!

So think through the stories that you might add to your marketing.

Use a blog website to flesh them out and share them with the world.

After all, it’s the stories….your stories…that the people you are most trying to attract care about anyways!
