Motivational Monday 3 – I’ll Stand By You

Memorial Day is a special time for all Americans to pause and recognize the great freedoms that we enjoy, and the sacrifice that has been made for generations to provide us with those freedoms.

There has always been debate on the righteousness of force and using a strong military to exert influence throughout the world as well as protect and defend our borders and our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

One thing that has never been debated, and should never come into question, is the commitment of the individual soldiers who wake up every day with the real-world task of bringing those same inalienable rights into reality and protecting citizens from those who would choose to deprive them of those freedoms.

Here’s a short video highlighting some of our unforgotten heroes:

As a veteran of the US Army Infantry during Operation Desert Shield / Desert Storm, I had the opportunity to see the hearts and minds of those soldiers who were standing for freedom every day…and willing to fall for it if need be.

I can tell you with 100% confidence that the American soldier, while not at all perfect, is born with a sense of duty to serve their fellow citizens and protect the way of life that we all hold so dearly.

Please take a few moments out of your busy day today and say a special prayer of thanks to the brave men and women to continue, even today, to stand on that front line and give everything they’ve got to allow us to enjoy holidays like today in peace and prosperity.

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors. WWP serves to raise awareness and enlist the publics aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women, to help severely injured service members aid and assist each other and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.

Everyday, I think of and say prayer for my comrades who did not return from Viet Nam, and I think of their families, too when I look at my kids and grand children. It’s a sacrifice that we, the living, have no way to compare. We can only give them a heart-felt thanks…not just today, everyday!
