The 2021 season for giving is officially here. As a real estate or mortgage professional, now is the perfect time to think about ways to give back to your community. Giving back will not only make you feel great, but in all honesty, it’s also a great marketing technique.
Active community involvement provides an excellent opportunity to network. Here are some ideas on how to make a difference in your local community.
Stand Up for Kids
Stand up for kids is a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping kids and live by their slogan “Helping one life at a time.” They are dedicated to ending the cycle of youth homelessness in local communities. They give the youth a sense of safety, hope, and belonging through housing support, mentoring, drop-in centers, and street outreach. They are in continued need for volunteers and donations to help the youth.
Meal Donations and Food Bank
Hot meals are a great way to give back to our community. With the recent pandemic, meals can be donated to frontline health workers as well to thank them for their service during this difficult time over the past year. Additionally, you can collect food from the employees to donate to the local food bank as they will need to produce extra boxes for Thanksgiving meals.
Support Local Pet Shelters
Many local pet shelters have had to reduce their staff or shut their doors, with the recent pandemic most have had to cancel current or ongoing fundraising efforts. Consider fostering a pet or donating to a local shelter. Most shelters will have some programs available to support people who cannot afford to continue feeding their pets as well so you can always donate pet food as well.
If you cannot keep it local or want to include many people from different areas and offices you can always start an annual United Way campaign where each employee makes a one-time contribution or donates a small amount each pay period. This way you are contributing throughout the year.
By keeping your involvement close to home, you will see the impact that you are making firsthand while building relationships with people that could potentially be your next client.
